Fillers
During the aging process, the face naturally loses subcutaneous fat. Wrinkles develop over time due to radiation from the sun, smiling, squinting or concentrating.
Fillers are a minimally invasive anesthetic medicine used to help diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. Fillers are commonly injected into the face, neck, and hands. These injections can result in a fuller, smoother, and more youthful appearance.
Procedure
A dermatologist will begin by marking the appropriate injection sites for the filler depending on the results that are desired. The injection sites will then be cleaned with an antibacterial solution.
During the procedure a dermatologist will administer fillers to various injection sites on the face and head, including around the eyes, along the jaw, around the lips and forehead. The number of fillers injected depends on the type of dermal fillers that are used and the desired results. This procedure can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the number of areas being treated.
Recovery
Recovery time varies for each patient and depending on the filler that was injected. Most activities can be resumed right away however it is recommended that intense physical or strenuous activity is avoiding for the first 24 to 48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising.
